EarlyBirds' proprietary teaching methodology combines foreign language immersion with games, songs, movement, and arts & crafts. Our teachers are adept at using all forms of verbal and non-verbal expression, which are critical components to facilitating the language acquisition process. This combination creates a fun, natural learning environment where children learn at their own pace. And by engaging a child in this manner, he or she quickly develops a love for language.

To help create routine, our lesson plans follow a consistent format and typically include an introduction, problem-solving game, active game, art project, snack time, and goodbye song. Supplementing these activities are songs, books, toys and cultural activities.

EarlyBirds has three developmentally appropriate programs for children ages 1 to 8.

Chickadees (ages 12 - 36 months)

The "Chickadees" program is an immersion-based "Parent & Tot" foreign language class designed for children ages 12-36 months. Children attend one or two 1-hour classes per week and parents or caregivers are provided with materials to reinforce learning at home .

Lesson plans are specifically tailored to this age group, using familiar songs, books, and toys to create a fun, natural learning environment. And since young children typically take their cues from parents and loved ones, active parent / caregiver participation is strongly encouraged.

Rockin Robins (ages 3-5 years)

The "Rockin Robins" program is an immersion-based, child-only foreign language class designed for children ages 3 up to 6 years. Children attend one or two 75-minute classes per week and parents or caregivers are provided with materials to reinforce learning at home.

Lesson plans are specifically tailored to this age group, emphasizing practical themes that a child is likely to encounter in real life situations. Classes are designed to encourage creativity and self-expression by engaging the child with fun activities such as art, music, and games.

Roadrunners (ages 6-8 years) & Blue Jays (ages 9-10 years)

The Roadrunners and Blue Jays programs are immersion-based, child-only foreign language classes designed for children ages 6-8 and 9-10 years respectively. Children attend one or two 75-minute classes per week and parents or caregivers are provided with materials to reinforce learning at home. At-home assignments are reviewed during the following class.

Our lesson plans are specifically tailored to these age groups, emphasizing practical themes in the context of a real life situation. Research has shown, and our experience has reinforced, that children are much more likely to communicate in the target language if the communication has a purpose and is relatable, so we create Thematic Units such as The 1st Day of School, Winter Vacation, or Going to the Supermarket that mean something to the child. Classes also need to be fun; so we engage children with activities such as art, music, and challenging games. And because the children are older, instructors are also able to incorporate some written language and reading into the lessons.
